Awesom Jacket.
Date:February 9, 2011
"I bought this jacket bak in 2008. I apsolutley love it. I dont own anything but my two Carhartts. I like this one cause I have the ability to do anything I want in it and I know it will hold up. Warm and comfortable too. Carhartt is mostly all I wear from head to toe. Im an electrician so its great for those rough jobs and gives me flexibilty even with my tool belt on. I will be buying another one when its time. Thanks Carhartt"

Awesome Jacket
Date:January 31, 2011
"My dad gave me this jacket over a year ago and it still looks as if it could have come from the store. The only difference is that this one is broken in. The jacket is incredibly warm even in the winter. The blanket lining is much warmer than you would think. The fit is great and the four pockets are really handy. This is a great product."

Perfect
Date:January 29, 2011
"I have never owned Carhartt until this fall and have since gotten a little Carhartt "drunk". The Detroit jacket is my third Carhartt and it is just perfect. The fit is trim and looks great. Just thick enought to chase away the chill. You can work in it or wear it on a night out, it is at home either place."

Great Jacket for One Wearing a Tool Belt
Date:January 2, 2011
"I needed a new jacket to deal with the cold and wet San Francisco winter, but I wanted something that can be worn over my tool belt with suspenders. The Detroit series jacket is perfect for this. I went with the J97 over the J01 because a local retailer had my size in stock. The J97 is comfortable from the start with little need for break-in.
The jacket fits snugly enough to allow good movement and not let the material get in the way when working. The blanket lining is nice and warm when I wear a short-sleeve shirt with temperatures in the 40s. I think lower temperatures would be fine with a long-sleeve flannel and/or a thermal.
The best part about the jacket is that the base rests just on top of my tool belt and bags and does not ride up due to being too long. I wear framer bags with a belt tape measure holster on the right side, and the jacket doesn't get in the way of me quickly getting to the tape.
I only have two complaints: The inside face of the collar is made of the same canvas material as the body, and when I wore the collar down, it caused a rash on my neck for about four weeks until the cloth was well broken in (with three washes). I got around the irritation by wearing the collar up. When worn up, the collar does a good job of covering the neck area, and the zipper runs up tight to the neck. The other complaint is that the jacket is not waterproof, but I knew this when buying it. The material is thick enough to absorb a good amount of water before soaking through.
I cannot comment on the longtime durability due to not having worn the jacket for more than two months, but it is holding up well from being on me forty hours a week for two months working construction outside.
This is not a jacket for someone looking to wear it out on the town with an un-tucked t-shirt. The body is very short to fit over a tool belt, and an un-tucked t-shirt sticks out enough to look ridiculous in a non-job-site setting. I couldn't be happier with the jacket as a workman's jacket."

Favorite Jacket
Date:December 1, 2010
"I've owned detroit jackets for years now and I have 4 different colors. They are too good looking to be used hard until they get a little worn - Ha! They are light enough to be used year round and with a flannel or wool shirt are great for all but very cold days. I like the old collars though they were color coordinated and made the jacket even sharper. Great jacket never the less. Thanks Carhartt!"

Nice Jacket
Date:November 28, 2010
"i Love the look to this jacket. it is relatively warm and good in the wind. my only complaint is that the sleeves seem a bit baggy and im not a scrawny guy. it may be because im a smaller guy with big shoulders that the fit is a little off but i love it and wear it everywhere. asking for another for christmas!"

Classy looking jacket
Date:March 5, 2010
"This jacket is a very nice looking jacket, I use mine for going out. Fit is fantastic and comfort is great. I like the jackets that ride right at the waistline. This is a great jacket for chilly days, not really good for very cold weather. My complaint is the zipper is flimsy and hard to open at times. The sleeves are a bit long, I wear mine rolled up. But this is my second favorite jacket I own, I plan on buying more of this same jacket in other colors."

First Carhartt
Date:February 15, 2010
"I had wanted a Carhartt jacket for a while now but never got around to getting one...until just after Christmas.
Armed with gift cards I descended on the local Carhartt retailer with no particular jacket in mind until I saw the J97.
We burn wood and coal. I've needed a jacket for a while now that would be light weight, warm, durable, have wind breaking capabilities, and have good range of motion, to give me mobility. I need to lug, split and stack wood, and carry 50 lb.bags of coal on my shoulders without having a jacket fall apart, get ripped, or become irretrievably soiled.
The J97 does the job for me. When it gets soiled I simply throw it in the wash, and it cleans up great. In fact I wear this jacket when I'm out and about. My wife has commented that she likes the way it looks on me.
The only comment I have that would be considered remotely critical is actually more of an observation. When these jackets are new they are STIFF. They break in quickly but they need to washed a couple of times before they "loosen up".
Because of it's obvious durability and construction I'm looking forward to having this jacket for years of use. In fact I just purchased my second Carhartt jacket (J140) and I expect the same thing from it."

"I received one for a gift several years ago, & it is the sturdiest outdoor jacket I own. I've used it while chopping down trees & clearing away the debri & it didn't even affect this garment. I carried away logs without damaging the sleeves, & I believe the canvas material definitely protects the arms/body from the sharp branches. When I was done, I just brushed it off. I think the coat was machined washed once or twice..still fits well!"

My First Carhartt
Date:December 2, 2009
"I just took delivery on my first Carhartt jacket. When I took it out of the package and put it on I felt like I had owned it for a long, long time; it fit so well and felt so comfortable. I am very pleased with the quality of the materials and workmanship of this jacket. The duck is very heavy and there's a warm blanket lining. It keeps me warm without getting too hot. The zippers are nice an heavy so I'm sure they will last a long time. I also love the look of the jacket. It is casual but I will certainly wear it everywhere."
