"So far this jacket works out real well. Takes away the need to have a jacket and rain gear. I just wish that would have have added more Velcro to the cuffs just an extra inch there would have made it better. I also would like them to make some insulated waterproof pants / bibs. "This coat is the perfect warm outer shell for daily wear in temperatures above zero or so. For extreme weather the large hood will pull over a warm hat (like a Carhartt Work Cammo 2 in 1 headwear/hat). I wore it turkey hunting in 35 degrees and sleet. I was bone dry and warm. In the spring I plan to zip out the vest and continue to wear the jacket in the rain. Imagine being completely pleased with the same jacket under all conditions! You will be with this garment." "I currently work in a cold envirement, inside and I tend to go outside a lot. At times for extended periods of time and some of the work is not very labor intensive so there is a bit of standing around. Seems like in the winter months the wind is very constant also. I was tired of having to doudle wear coats, lots of layers just to keep warm. I've had the coat for about a month now, temps from 10 to 45 F, sun, wind snow and rain. So far I love this jacket. Its not bulky, very warm but not too warm when temp above 40-45F (haven't had it in warmer weather yet). Water proof. the hood is insulated. overall so far just a great jacket. A little stiff at first. Havent washed it yet will do that this week. May take out some of the stiffness. I am a very picky shopper when it comes to cloths and jackets (wife hates to shop with me). I was conserned about the price, a little more than what I like to pay for a coat but this jacket is worth it." 1 of 1 found this review helpful.

"I just received this coat last week as winter has really come on strong here in Ohio. I was looking for a light jacket (i.e., not super poofy, or heavy like a sack of potatoes), waterproof/resistant, that came in tall sizes and was not too flashy (lots of color patterns, logo's, etc). Having a jacket that you can layer shirts/sweaters underneath and not sweat bullets was also very important. And the detachable hood not only fits well, but if you want to go convertible and take it off, its a few easy snaps to remove. I wear a lot of t-shirt / button up dress shirt / sweater layering, and this jacket on top allows you that extra warmth to keep the cold out, yet breaths well so you're not overly warm. Doesn't feel 'cheap' like your typical department store coats. I wear a 50 Long dress coat, and the 3XLT was the perfect! I'm a picky shopper and my wife will agree, I'm hard to please when it comes to clothing and style. A+ for Carhartt for making colors in more than just Redneck Brown" Share this Review:

"Cold weather, snow storms,getting in and out of your tractor we needed a shorter cut jacket that does not get in the way of controls and still can handle the job. "This is the best jacket I have owned. I wish I had it when I lived in MN! I live at 5000 ft on a ranch north of Reno where it gets very windy, snowy and cold. I have an 1800 ft driveway and large pad area to plow with my ATV, and then my neighbor and I plow out all the other neighbors and the main road! Then we plow out the trails to everybodys horse corrals. After a full day at this, I have never been cold or wet. I really like the tight-fitting hood and collar. "I do not work outside, but I spend much time camping and fishing. I needed something that would keep me warm and repel water. This jacket is great for both. Although I generally wear an inner layer with the jacket, it helps keep me warm and I stay totally dry. I have worn this in the rain and snow and have remained completely dry.
