"I bought a jacket for my son, and intended to buy one for my husband once he picked the one that he liked, however, the photos on the site do not show some of the details that the jacket included, (or not very obvious in description).. The sleeves had gathers at the wrists like a childs jacket, I bought an x-lrg. because their stock in both color and sizes was so poor and limited, that not only could I NOT get his first choice? I couldn't get his 2nd choice in the color and size he wanted either. I decided to go one size larger to accomidate perhaps extra clothing underneath, and while I expected it to be a bit larger? It was like a blanket around him, and then it was short. I would think that an x-lrg. would take into account that the man wearing it may have a slightly larger build than a Large, (Perhaps a bit more length in the front to conceal an x-lrg tummy?) and that it would be taken into consideration while making the jacket. So, while the jacket nearly wrapped around him twice? The front did not even touch his waist band, and my son is a Large at best. I was quite honestly shocked that if he is a large, that even an extra large would not fit his torso, as he is NOT big and tall. The jacket, while wonderful in style, and construction, was a disaster, and much thought was placed into buying it. I had to return it. I also received it late, and it was a gift. They did assure me that I would be refunded the shipping fees, however? This really turned out to not be helpful, as I had to ship it back after all. I am out the shipping, and my son has no jacket. I was very saddened. These jackets are wonderfully thought out, and offer great protection in the elements, and look very attractive, I was very sad to know that I would not be able to find one from the company to fit my son. He isn't an odd size, The jackets are just oddly proportioned. The big and tall? Would have been like a dress on the poor guy. No happy medium. I worry now, that my next option? Will not be as nice a jacket, and that bums me out. I hope that you can find your size... And that if you go to the source like I did? That they have more of their own items to offer you. If you can't get it direct, where can you expect to find one? I haven't looked to see if and what they offer in the way of women's wear, I really would like one for myself! I love these jackets... "I got this coat my Seventh Grade year of school. That was seven years ago. I had to get this coat because I caught on fire in my other carrhart but the coat stopped the flames. My coat is still in great shape after workin on a Brick laying crew and about four washing a year. It has fadded out and starting to show wear. But over all it still keeps me warm. "This was my first Carhartt purchase and I am hooked for life. This is by far the best jacked I have ever owned. The craftsmanship is superior and this jacket is made to last. The Sherpa lining makes this jacket a must have for those cold days and even those days that aren’t that cold. Wore this jacket at a football game where it snowed, sleeted and rained and never got wet or cold. I looked at the Duck cloth jackets as well but as soon as I found the sandstone ones I knew this was the one I had to have. After washing the jacket it looks like I’ve had it for years. "I bought one of these in the dark brown color. I have to say it might be the warmest jacket I have owned. The sherpa lined hood is an excellent feature, along with the insulated cuffs. It has plenty of pockets ( the front pockets are big enough to put your hands in if you do not have gloves on ) The zippered pocket on the chest is big enough for my cel phone. "I was accustomed to the duck Carhartt for years. I just received my sandstone sierra with the sherpa liner. all I can say i wow i really like this coat! comfort, warmth, style, functionality, and of course Carhartt quality that will last for years to come! I especially like the cuffs, excellent for wearing gloves with out exposing your wrist to the elements. The features that appealed to me were the long tail in the back, the tailored cuffs with the elasic on the inside (genius!) and the warm, comfy sherpa lining. After a year of forestry work in the extreme cold and many long days of farm chores -- I love this coat!! Not only is it very, very water resistant, comfortable and warm, but it looks great! No more boxy winter coats for me, the fit is excellent. I'm able to do anything from cutting down large trees to running a hydroseeder tanker.. or just riding my horses. "This jacket was a purchase I made last December. I have had other Carhartts and tried other brands. I have learned my lesson and always come back to Carhartt. This jacket is comfortable, warm, stylish and affordable. As far as the durability of this jacket goes, only time will tell. Judging by what I see, I have no reason to doubt it. "The Sandstone Sierra Jacket is the best jacket that I have ever worn, and it is probably the best jacket I will ever own. This jacket is incredibly warm, and it blocks wind very well too. It is incredibly comfortable, and I can wear it all day. It has five pockets in easy to reach places, with three on the outside and two on the inside.
