In the fall winter and spring its for sure everyday. It looks great and wears even better. This is my downright favorite peice of Carhartt clothing. The amazing thing about this jacket is it can handle those freezing cold winters and also be completely comfortable in the spring and fall with the coat just zipped half way up like i have in the picture. "After the purchase of my first Carhartt jacket (J97) I decided to get another Carhartt jacket, but I wanted one that was hooded. A friend...who works in the field for one of the well known wireless companies uses his J140 in the field and is completely satisfied with it. He recommended it when I asked him how he liked his. Based on his recommendation, I decided that I would get a J140. Same durable construction as my other Carhartt with all the same capabilities. i.e. warmth, wind breaking, generous pockets, but with the addition of nylon cuffs, waist band, and hood. Again, about the only criticism...more of an observation than criticism actually...is that this jacket, like my other Carhartt was STIFF when it was new. I've washed it twice since it's purchase and it was "loosened up" since then. Like my other Carhartt jacket, I'm looking forward to years of good service from this one as well." Share this Review:

The reason I ordered these coats was because in 2002, I ordered 10 of these coats for my family and had them embroidered with our stable names on them along with each person first name on the front. All of these coats are still in great shape except for the two coats that have been worn everyday from Nov.-April of each year and they were starting to fade and frazile around the sleeves. They have probably been washed at least once a week, maybe twice because of getting dirty at the barn. I had recommended these coats to the outriders at Turfway Park in Florence, Ky. They tried one of ours on and had me to order 3 for them. They liked them so well, that a week later they wanted me to order 5 more. I would recommend these coats to anyone who works out in the cold temperatures (40 degrees and down below zero) and around the barn areas. We work with horses and they have held up wonderfully. "The other day I got my good old trusty Carhartt coat out for the winter. "Man this thing is looking ragged." I thought to myself. It's in perfect shape --- except for around the cuffs, where threads are hanging and the fabric is worn through. I got to thinking about all that this coat and I have been through together... communications tower construction, countless rooftops installing wireless internet, the list goes on. THEN it occured to me that this coat is entering it's SEVENTH year!!! SEVEN years of wear and tear, and I'm whining about the cuffs being a bit threadbare. "I bought this coat over a year and half ago, and it was the best decision that I could have made!! This jacket is perfect for the cold Wisconsin winters! It keeps the wind out and the warmth in. It is durable, rugged, and tough. The jacket takes a while to break in, but once it does, this jacket will be your trustful buddy in wicked winter temps! The deep front pockets are great for holding anything from nails to tape measures, and the inside pocket keeps important papers or cell phones safe from the elements. "I bought the red version to replace my tan one that is going on 7 years old. I have been completely satisfied with these jackets. I am a chicken farmer and anyone that knows anything about that industry knows that any type of clothes you wear gets put through some tough work from abrasion to acid resistance and these jackets stand up to it all. In fact the only thing really bad on my old jacket is it is deteriorating around the cuffs on the arms. "I recently bought this jacket to fight the cold in the mountains I am currently working on. Most of the drillers I work with wear Carhartt gear. This particular job I am on was the first time I was introduced to Carhartt. There are other brands that make heavy duty durable work gear but no one makes the gear as fashionable as Carhartt does. I have gone to purchase couple of Carhartt pants and beanie, and plan to purchase more. This jacket has a nice fit and keeps your very warm. "My mom loves it. It's a little bit big, but she has a cast on her arm, so it fits perfectly over the cast. NOW each person in my family has one. My father has black, my mom has the red, I have green (my favorite color) and my sister has brown. They are so warm and comfortable. They wear well, and they are rugged and tough.
