Fantastic purchase
Date:January 23, 2012
"I bought this same coat a few years back i can honestly say you can not destroy this coat. I'm a linemen I'm always working in the cold and this coat has done more than it's job. I've been snagged on things and it wouldn't rip I've been cut up on poles and it didn't rip. Most importantly it's warm never owned a better coat I give it 100%."

My Favorite Coat Ever
Date:April 4, 2011
"I got this coat in 1998 when i was in the 10th grade and wore it every winter up until this year. The only reason i stopped wearing it is because i can't find it. The only thing wrong with it after all those years were a few burn holes from wearing it while welding.I will def be buying another next winter and suggest anyone who wants to buy a longlasting coat do the same"

Bombproof
Date:February 3, 2011
"I got this jacket in the winter of 2002 when i was living in Philadelphia. This jacket is the best. You can wear it with just a t-shirt and long sleeve shirt, and stay comfortably warm. The two inside pockets are great for a large bi-fold wallet on one side, and mail, tri-folded papers, and pens on the other. The large outer pockets are bottomless (9"wide by 12" tall with a cutout opening, with no closure- but i've never had anything fall out) you can fit a folded in half sheet of paper, gloves, earmuffs or knit hat and anything else you can think of. Even though the outer pockets aren't insulated, they can block the wind on a cold day and still keep your bare hands warm. The other day i lost my car keys in there with my gloves and other stuff, and didnt even hear them jingling around. There are 2 smaller outer pockets (5"x5") on top of the larger ones good for small pieces of paper or an ID and credit card. Carhartt's level of care is unbeatable. Four years after owning it i had a problem with the zipper. I emailed Carhartt, they emailed me a postage paid UPS label, and I dropped it off at a local ship center. They replaced the zipper and shipped it back to me within 7 business days. Nine years later and still going strong. The cordoroy collar has faded a little with my washings, but the cordura hasn't faded any.(cold wash and hang dry). My only regret is not researching further and buying a tall size (the store where purchased only carried regular sizes). At 6'3", 180 lbs, the Large size I purchased would be better in Tall with a little extra length in the sleeves."

Great winter work jacket!
Date:February 2, 2011
"I waited three weeks after I got my Carhartt arctic quilted lined jacket and hood to write this review because I really put it to some tests. I work nightshift as a mechanic for a regional railroad company so I’m outdoors in all kinds of weather. When I got the jacket I was kind of skeptic because it is thin and fairly light weight. On a 3 degree snowy windy night this jacket kept me so warm with just a long sleeve shirt underneath. It protects against the biting wind too. The jacket is really well designed. The zippers are easy to use with gloves on. It’s also easy to put things in the pockets with gloves on. Just real well designed. The optional hood is great too. With the hood up and the Velcro flap fastened it seals up around your face so cold air or snow cant get in. The jackets material is very durable and water resistant. Defiantly won’t tear easily. All and all it’s a super work jacket!"

6 years later
Date:January 17, 2011
"I've had this coat, along with the hood, for 6+ years. It has been put through some pretty bad scenarios and is still in pristine condition. I am a woman working in an extreme male dominated field. I was instructed years ago to go buy the warmest and best stuff I could find and they emphasized that Carhartt should be looked at. With this coat and hood, I have had men I work with threaten to steal it. It is impossible to get cold in this sucker. I've been outside in snow, sleet, rain and cold New England days. I even brought it to Canada and didn't get cold. I love this coat."

Great Coldweather Gear
Date:January 15, 2011
"I work in the oil and gas industry which takes me all over the world, i purchased this jacket and the acrtic bibs to go with them in light of a hitch in North Dakota through January. With the temps reaching -20 farenheit I never found a time when i wasn't warm and comfortable. I would recommend this gear to anyone who is going to be working or just spending anytime outside in extreme cold conditions."

C-55 Warm Coat 12/11/2010
Date:December 11, 2010
"The coat keeps me warm, the fabric can take abuse, the pockets are large and the hood keeps me warm. The Velcro of the hood simplifies securing the hood for warmth. I spend a lot of time out in the cold. I bought the coat in New York 1/2/2008. I hope Carhartt has improved it. Last year, 2009 the cord that goes around the waste to keep the cold out, tore apart. My work around was to thread a new nylon cord into the cord passage. I realized the hard nylon could damage the fabric so I used the plastic locking mechanisms on the cord to hold the waist in a tight position. I wish i had thought to do that in the first place. Today 12/11/2010 the puller on the zip came off. I was able to replace it with a heavy duty paper clip which I bound in tape. I hope there are no more surprises. I still like the product because the outer fabric is so very durable. I don't expect I could find better even at a much higher price."

Nothing beats it
Date:November 28, 2010
"It can not be put into words how great this product is. Having served in the military, I have been exposed to temperatures of extreme heat and cold. Looking back, On those cold desert nights I wish i would have had the luxury of having this coat. What i do have is Michigan's Lovely winter wonderland. It's unimaginable how warm it is inside of this coat. In the blistering cold you can stand in the coldest of wind and you still feel nice and toasty where ever the coat covers. Be sure to also get the hood and a Carhartt hat to complete your package, cause even tho your body is warm, you dont want to ruin your experience by freezing your face off!"

Perfect Cold Weather Coat
Date:July 14, 2010
"I have the tall version of this coat and it fits perfectly. The inside is very comfortable and smooth. the exterior holds up perfectly in rain, sleet, and snow while doing pretty much any type of work. I've done everything from simply wearing it to the office to chopping firewood in it during 10-30 degree temps and all sorts of conditions. It's held up outstanding...in some cases, nearly overheated me! the warmth is almost instant as soon as you put it on. As with any thick lined coat, the jacket is a tiny bit stiff, but by no means uncomfortable. Just don't expect it to be as broken in as a lighter weight jacket."

"I've had my Carhartt Extreme for years... My coat has been the greatest tool of my trade since day one. I will never buy another coat unless its an Extreme. I work on the oil fields of Prudhoe Bay, AK and up there you need grade A gear and not "knock-off" stuff you buy at Walmart... These jackets are the real deal. If I can stay warm at temperatures reaching well below -60 during 10-12 hour days outside, I'll assure you it'll keep you warm anywhere. It's great when it comes to cold, wet environments."

The Winter Work Coat
Date:February 17, 2010
"This the warmest toughest coat i've ever seen let alone owned. When I bought this coat the guy at the store asked what size I wanted, I said I want it big enough to layer under, he said you're not going to need to layer under this, I laughed and said yeah right. Then once it was delivered i fryed in it, in a good way, it's also water resistant which is great for snow because duck just soaks on through. It's of made cordura nylon which is one of the reasons a bought it instead of duck. I'm a fireman and the sides of our duty boots are made out of codura nylon, so i knew what I was getting. Cordura nylon is water resistant, cut and tear resistant. Fits true to size order what you normally wear it'll fit fine even if you do decide to layer. Now go buy it and start being warm."

Four Years and I still love it

Best Jacket I have ever owned.
Date:January 9, 2010
"This was my first Carhartt jacket and definitely not the last. I was amazed at how comfortable and warm it was. I live in NY so the weather right now is snowy and below freezing. This jacket handles those conditions very well if not perfect.
The fit was perfect, Being 6"7 its hard to find a nice jacket that fits. But I had no trouble at all finding a Carhartt jacket that was my size (4XLT).
The quality and durability of this coat alone makes it worth buying. As long as they don't get rid of the Big & Tall line then I will keep buying Carhartt jackets for the foreseeable future."

Ultimate Winter Coat
Date:January 1, 2010
"Once again Carhartt did not disappoint. The extreme Artic Coat is warm, comfortable and rugged. Amazingly it is also lightweight! I am very pleased with my purchase and have told several friends. In my opinion Carhartt set the standard for high quality, rugged work clothes. This winter coat is everything I was looking for and more. Thanks Carhartt."

Too warm for now
Date:October 21, 2009
"I bought this coat in august and even though its getting cold up here it's still to warm to wear this coat. It will be definitely be tested when it drops to -50. The hood is also a nice addition to the coat. It takes a while to break in but is still nice."

Extreme Weather Coat
Date:January 21, 2009
"The coat is much warmer than I expected. It may take a while to break it in completely but that is because it is built for rugged wear. The coat is heavy enough to protect me from the elements yet it is comfortable enough to wear all day working outdoors. I am sure it is the best work coat I ever owned."
